Some tourist places of pokhara

Pokhara Town
Pokhara Town, well away from Lakeside, is the real Nepali town. Not at all touristy, it is bustling with market stalls selling food and fruit, shops selling cds, tacky porcelain figurines and all manner of other brickabrac, and entire shopping centres, some of which are even air-conditioned! Take a taxi there from Lakeside, and be prepared for a bumpy ride!

Lake Phewa (Phewa Tal)
Dominating the Lakeside Area of Pokhara is beautiful clean Lake Phewa. Several of the restaurants in town use fish caught in the lake. The way to enjoy it is to go down the alley to the right of Mike's Restaurant, where you can hire big paddle boats by the hour, paddle out and dive off the boat or just relax, enjoy the sun, read a book and snooze.

Sarangkot
A hillside town above Pokhara, 1592m up, Sarangkot has a viewing station which looks over the Pokhara valley on one side, and the entire Annapurna range on the other. Fabulous breathtaking views (Google Image it), and if you're feeling adventurous, try paragliding off the top! Sarangkot is a semi developed village. It is the highest viewpoint easily accesable from Pokhara. Two hours walk up the staircase, or get most of the way up by local bus or Taxi.
Sarangkot has great views in all four directions, Pokhara below, The Annapurna Range including its highest peaks, Rolling Hills off to the sunset and a rural lanscape out along the ridge road.

This is a most popular spot for sunrise watchers who come up in the morning and head back to Pokahar after breakcfast.. But in my opinion if you have a spare night in your itinery - stay the night in Sarangkot. There are plenty of places to stay from a few dollars upwards. Sunsets are even better than sunrise most days, the food is better than average for most villages, and it is a great place to loung arround and have a few beers for an afternoon.

Climb up to the World Peace Stupa
There is a large stupa (i.e. Bhuddist Temple) on a hill above Lake Phewa, on the opposite side to Sarangkot. Take a boat across from Lakeside, then climb up through the forest to the top for amazing views. Alternatively walk around (via Damside) and come up the other side of the hill.
